La Fornarina and the Cat
Today We, Zarathustra the Cat, reveal to the world the true version of the famous Raphael’s painting “La Fornarina”:
The painting shows Raphael’s lover named Margherita; her father was a baker and that’s why her nickname was La Fornarina (derivative from Italian “il forno” – oven). They say Margherita refused to marry Raphael every time he asked, and the reason for it is evident in the true version of the painting:
The girl was quite happy living on her own with her cat!
Have look at the commonly known version of the painting in Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica, Rome:
The girl with the cat looks happier, and a pudgy cat is a way better cover than a thin veil!
Thus speaks Zarathustra the Cat
