The Artist and Her Mews
“Behind every great woman there is a great cat” – We thought this posing to the incredibly talented girl, Marie-Denise Villers:
It was a lot of historical injustice around this painting: it was attributed to Jacques-Louis David at the time when humans thought that a woman is incapable to create such a brilliant scene. Later it was realized to be Villers’ work, maybe even a selfie of the artist!
But of course, they cut the cat off, because these pretending to be high-browed art-critics thought that a selfie with a cat is mere kitsch!
You can see this reduced version at the Metropolitan Museum:
But today the historical justice won!
Dear ladies, be creative, beloved, and happy, win everywhere, and, we, cats, will support you anytime!
Thus speaks Zarathustra the Cat
